RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — Ridgewood’s 24-17 victory over Montclair during the NJSIAA Section 1, Group 5 semifinals on Friday evening advanced the Maroons to the sectional championship in two weeks at Met Life Stadium.
The game was tight until the fourth quarter, when Ridgewood was driving inside the red zone and turned the ball over with 3:50 to play remaining.
Montclair was points away from winning the game when wide receiver Wylie Sherman, #22, intercepted Mountie quarterback Tarrin Earle in the end zone with 21 seconds left in the game.
That set the game into over time and Ridgewood full back Zack Feagles, #18, scored the first point bringing the score to 24-17. Mounties had possession when Ridgewood Center Ken Ekert sacked him on the fourth down to win the game.
Ridgewood will face Passaic County Tech in the sectional championship in two weeks at Met Life Stadium.
