RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — What warrants a conflict of interest is on the minds of Ridgewood council members pondering if a member should vote on matters where her own sons are involved, northjersey.com reported.
Three candidates for police are sons of Ridgewood Councilwoman Susan Knudsen, a fact she didn’t reveal when voting to maintain residency requirements for Ridgewood public safety employees, northjersey.com said.
"I think that the public as well as the council should have been informed about the potential conflict from the outset,” Ridgewood Mayor Paul Aronsohn told the Daily Voice.
“This is particularly true in light of the fact that we have been involved in either fire department or police department contract negotiations for the past two years,” the mayor said.
