RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- A sportswoman, local personality, former village deputy mayor and a devoted Rotarian recently received the district's Arthur Fenniman Award.
Betty Wiest was presented the honor by Rotary District 7490 Governor Peter Wells and District Governor Nominee/District Secretary James Boyer, a nominee for district governor, according to a statement from the group.
The award, the organization's most prestigious, is presented to a Rotary member who demonstrates the qualities of "commitment to service and high ethical standards," according to the statement. It is named after Arthur Fenniman of the Maywood Club, who was said to have exemplified "service above self."
In addition to her work in the village, Wiest is a long-time member of the Rotary Club of Ridgewood A.M., which meets at 7:30 a.m. every Thursday at Roots Steakhouse in Ridgewood.
