NJ Meteorologist: Wet Snow Headed To Bergen, Passaic

Some wet snow was possible in parts of Bergen and Passaic counties on Tuesday, but it's not likely to stick, meteorologist Joe Cioffi said Monday.

The real nuisance comes Wednesday -- heavy rain and wind with gusts up to 40 miles an hour, he said.

A "lead weak system that is coming out of the Gulf States will bring precipitation," Cioffi said. "It will be mixed precipitation or perhaps some wet snow for awhile.

"There is just enough cold air aloft to support it into Monday evening before the warm air completely takes over," he said.

"The bottom line is that there could be a coating to an inch or so of accumulation and mainly on grassy surfaces...as you go north and northwest of the warmer urban areas and the coast," Cioffi said.

A different storm from the west, he said, will bring "a couple of inches of rain and strong southerly winds during Wednesday and Wednesday night.

"Weather conditions will improve on Thursday."
