RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- As the fall sports season gets into full swing, the Friends of the Ridgewood Public Library and the Community Relations Advisory Board of Ridgewood & Glen Rock will present "Creating a Culture of Healthy Competition" on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the Ridgewood Public Library.

Montclair State professor John McCarthy will discuss grievance policies, codes of conduct and youth program regulations to help make the sports experience fun and civil for all.

Organizers say last year's event was standing-room only, so interested parents are encouraged to register early. Register here.

McCarthy will also sell and sign copies of his book, "What Would Yogi Do? Guidelines for Athletes, Coaches and Parents Who Love Sports," following the program.

Email roberta@ridgewoodlibrary.org with any questions.

The session will begin at 7 p.m. The Ridgewood Public Library is at 125 North Maple Ave.

To keep up with events at the library, visit its website, or follow it on Facebook or Twitter.
