Ridgewood Doctor To Lead Concussion Talk For Coaches, Parents

RAMSEY, N.J. -- An expert on concussions is coming to Ramsey on Jan. 19 to talk to coaches and parents of athletic children.

In easily understood language, Angela D’Alessandro, M.D. will educate participants about concussion facts. 

Discussed will be,

  • Pre-concussion testing
  • What to do on the sidelines
  • Recommended treatment
  • Post-concussion brain rest. 
  • Second impact syndrome 
  • Possible long term effects. 

There will be an opportunity to ask questions.

The talk is free, open to the public and starts at 7 p.m., at the Ramsey Public Library, 30 Wyckoff Ave. It was organized by the Ramsey Board of Health.

D’Allesandro is a board-certified, Columbia-trained specialist in pediatric and adult physical medicine and rehabilitation. She is affiliated with Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, Columbia Campus, and Center for Discovery, Monticello, NY. 

She is also a Ramsey resident and a member of the Ramsey Board of Health.

D’Allesandro also is the director of Valley Hospital's Center for Pediatric Spasticity, the only facility in the area that provides comprehensive care for children with muscle tightness and spasms caused by cerebral palsy, stroke, or other neurological issues.
