RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- An alumni association at Ridgewood High School is hoping to make its mark on the school's 125th anniversary.
The newly formed Ridgewood High School Alumni Association is running a brick paver sale to celebrate the high school, as well as make note of influencers who walked through the halls.
The commemorative brick pavers will allow buyers to honor a favorite student, alumnus, teacher, business, coach, team or academic club.
The bricks will be engraved with names and line the walkways of the school campus as a way to honor its past and future, said principal Thomas Gorman.
"Bricks are the foundation of the school building, just like students are the core of our school system," Gorman said. "We encourage anyone involved in the Ridgewood High School community -- parents, graduates, and businesses -- to purchase a brick. It is a great gift for the holidays."
The 125th anniversary commemorative bricks cost $125 and $250, depending on the size selected.
Parents of seniors would have to place their orders soon in order to have their child's brick in the ground before graduation.
"The idea came from so many graduates who said they would like memorialize a friend in some way and give back to RHS. Now we are offering an opportunity for anyone to become a permanent part of RHS," Gorman said. "The campaign will be ongoing. After every 50 brick orders we will place them in the ground. We hope this campaign will continue for years to come and the names will be all over the grounds of RHS."
