RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- Two Ridgewood officers took their final walks out of headquarters on Monday.
As his last assignment, 30-year veteran Officer Robert Hirsch escorted the village Christmas tree from Dorchester Avenue to North Broad Street, where it will be lit this Friday during the annual downtown holiday celebration.
Hirsch previously worked for New Jersey Transit before joining the village force in 1985.
Ridgewood Detective Douglas Williams, who also retired today, joined the department a year after Hirsch.
Williams worked for the New Jersey Department of Parole and the Union County Prosecutor's Office before that.
