The youngster was left behind after the driver dropped off students at School 14 on Union Avenue, authorities told the Paterson Times.
As a result, Acting Schools Supt. Eileen Shafer canned the driver, who worked for 4 Diamond Transportation, and the district-employed aide, while fining the company $1,000, according to a published report.
“Superintendent Shafer is reaching out to the parents directly to assure them that our cShildren’s safety is our top priority and we have no tolerance for such lapse in following proper protocols,” a spokeswoman told the Paterson Times.
Two Paterson students were left behind in September, leading to fines and firings in those cases, as well.
