Ridgewood Restaurant Worker Was Selling Pot From Home, Authorities Charge

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- A Ridgewood restaurant worker who authorities said was selling pot from his home was arrested by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Narcotic Task Force and village police.

Detectives seized a half-pound of marijuana and $13,518 in alleged drug proceeds while arresting Joel T. Schwartz, 25, during a raid Tuesday at his Hunter Road home.

Investigators had watched Schwartz selling from his home "on more than one occassion," Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said Wednesday.

Schwartz was released on a summons charging him with posession of marijuana pending an initial Central Municipal Court appearance in Hackensack on Thursday.
