RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- A check of local jewelry stores led Ridgewood detectives to a 31-year-old Ringwood man who they said snatched $30,000 in valuables from a local home while working there as a window cleaner.
Adam Broersma was charged with theft and released on a court summonses following his arrest Tuesday.
Detectives began investigating after the North Murray Avenue victim told police that the jewerly was swiped from the master bedroom on Dec. 8, Capt. Jacqueline Luthcke said late Tuesday afternoon.
They'd recovered $25,000 worth as they continued investigating Broesma, who was working for AB Clean Windows, the captain said.
Luthcke reminded residents to store valuables in a safe or safe deposit box, among other secure places, and to restrict access to outsiders.
"Always get references for home service providers prior to hiring them," she added.
