Ridgewood Teen Faces Shoplifting Charge

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police responded to 95 calls for service on Sunday, including five car accidents and a shoplifting arrest at a local retail store.

A 17-year-old female Ridgewood, N.J., resident was charged with shoplifting after she was observed stealing items at a retail business in Airmont. The teen was processed and released on bail.

Officers responded to five car accidents at Route 59, Monsey; Ramapo Avenue, Hillburn; Herrick Avenue, Monsey; Route 306, Viola; and Route 17, Hillburn.

Other calls included:

  • 18 alarm activations.
  • One fire.
  • Five medical emergencies.
  • Three arrests: Along with the above arrest, police also made arrests for a bench warrant out of the Ramapo Justice Court, and another for violating the village of New Hempstead noise ordinance.
