Police: 'Superman' Found Drunk In Ridgewood Business Lobby

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- First he was Captain America running across Ridgewood rooftops, village police said -- and now they say a Hackensack man who rents himself as a costumed superhero at parties caused a bit of a ruckus as Superman.

The Ridgewood Man of Steel, like Capt. America last year, was drunk, village police said.

"He's not a bad kid -- not at all," a family member told Daily Voice. "He doesn't mean any harm."

Officers responding to an East Ridgewood Avenue business last Thursday said they found the 29-year-old man sitting in the lobby dressed as the Man of Steel.

He was taken to The Valley Hospital for intoxication treatment, with no charges filed, they said.

Last Fourth of July weekend, village police said the same man was "heavily intoxicated" and running across the roofs of a string of two-story mixed-use buildings. He was taken to Valley after firefighters using a ladder truck snatched him from the roof at 57 East Ridgewood Avenue.
