PUBLIC SAFETY: The Essex County Sheriff’s Office PBA Local is urging its members to remove police shields from their vehicle windshields and windows after shots reportedly were fired at an off-duty officer’s car.
This comes after the New Jersey State PBA instituted a shield blackout yesterday.
“The possibility exits that off-duty officers and their families may become a target,” PBA Local 183 says in a notice. “All members should remove all shields from your windows.
“Be safe…be smart and aware of your surroundings at all times.”
