NOTE: Without knowing the exact circumstances, CLIFFVIEW PILOT doesn’t identify victims in such cases, in case it turns out to be a suicide. To do so, I believe, is terribly insensitive to loved ones ( Publisher/Editor Jerry DeMarco ).

Responding to the incident, reported just after 8:25 p.m. Thursday, were Ridgewood police, including Chief John Ward
.

Also on the scene were Ridgewood Emergency Services, New Jersey Transit police and the Bergen County Police Department.

Robert G. Lahita, MD, medical director of Ridgewood Emergency Services pronounced the victim dead.

NJ Transit suspended service on two lines headed north and west until 10 o’clock.
