Jitney Buses Sidelined For Fairview Spot Inspections

FAIRVIEW, N.J. -- Authorities at the Fairview/Cliffside Park border conducted inspections Wednesday morning into early afternoon of jitney buses that travel along Anderson Avenue to and from New York City.

Jitneys were diverted into the parking lot of what used to be the A&P supermarket and inspected by investigators from the state Motor Vehicle Commission, the state Department of Transportation and Fairview police.

Tow trucks were at the ready to remove vehicles unfit for the road.
