BEYOND BERGEN: A Maryland driver who said he “laces his blunts” with PCP began hopping in place and waving his arms to “warm up” for a field sobriety test after drivers reported him driving erractically in the Holland Tunnel, Port Authority police said.

Lt. Joseph Macaluso found the black Chrysler driven by Charles W. Wyche, 49, stopped in neutral at the corner of 14th Street and Marin Boulevard at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT .

Wyche, whose license had been suspended, admitted ingesting PCP, he said.

“Before a field sobriety test began, [Wyche] began hopping in place and waving his arms and said to police that he was ‘warming up’ before the test,” Pentangelo said.

“The test began but ended due to [Wyche’s] failure to follow instructions” and was arrested, he said. His sedan also was impounded.

Police processing him found Wyche carrying two small bags of cocaine and one of PCP, Pentangelo said.

They charged him with DWI, drug possession, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.
