EXCLUSIVE: Ridgewood police have found the driver of a car that a motorist said she swerved to avoid, sending her vehicle into a utility pole and a pedestrian who was thrown nearly 20 feet.
As of this morning, no charges had been issued against the 65-year-old driver, a licensed physician in the village with offices in two Bergen County towns, CLIFFVIEW PILOT has learned.
A Rockland County man was standing on the corner of South Maple Avenue and Dayton Street on July 11 when the Saddle Brook woman’s car struck him.
The woman told police the driver of a dark-colored Nissan turned south onto Maple through a stop sign, cutting her off, and kept going.
As she swerved, she said, she lost control of her Hyundai, which hit the man and then the telephone pole.
Witnesses corroborated her statement, Ridgewood Police Chief John Ward said.
She appeared fine.
The 50-something victim, meanwhile, was recovering from serious injuries.
