Officer Kyle Scarpa was making a notification for another agency in the 600 block of Alanon Road when the boxer, who'd been tied to a chair, got loose just before 1 p.m., responders said.

The officer sustained "a puncture wound and some scratches," Police Chief Jacqueline Luthcke said. "The dog was in his own yard and got loose from its tie out when the officer was on scene.

"The owner quickly had control of his dog," the chief said.

The village Health Department responded along with fellow police.
