The NJ Police Community Affairs Officers Association's 10-week Law Enforcement Career Development Course counsels college students interested in law enforcement careers.
The only program of its kind in the tri-state area, the course pairs professionals with more than 23 colleges and universities and has graduated more than 700 students, many of whom have gone on to law enforcement careers.
“We believe that this program is highly effective tool to help recruit a diverse professional workforce," said Bergen County Sheriff Michael Saudino, joined at the graduation ceremony by county Prosecutor Gurbir Grewal, among others.
“These are the faces of the future of law enforcement," Grewal said.
The course was led by law enforcement veteran William Schiavella, the sheriff’s director of communications, along with:
- Bergen County Sheriff’s Officer Shelly Perez;
- Leonia Police Officer Maria Perez;
