Walter Scott McCann Jr., 80, Of Ridgewood

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- Walter Scott McCann Jr., 80, of Ridgewood,  died June 8.

He was born June 25, 1936, in Washington D.C, growing up in Bloomfield and Summit. He was a graduate of Summit High School and received his bachelor's degree from Lafayette College in Easton, Pa., where he was a member of Theta Xi Fraternity.

He lived in Neptune for several years before settling in Ridgewood in 1974 with his family. He was employed throughout the years as an industrial design and construction administrator at Parsons-Jurden Corporation and Burns & Roe, retiring from the latter after almost 20 years.

In addition, he spent more than 30 years in the New Jersey National Guard, having served as president of the state National Guard Association and retiring with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He spent many years volunteering his time and energy to various civic and charitable organizations, as well as playing countless rounds of golf with his buddies from Hobbyists Unlimited.

He was predeceased by his parents, Walter Scott McCann and Helen Clark McCann.

He is survived by his son, Walter Scott McCann III and his wife Julie; step-granddaughter, Danielle; son, David Keyler McCann and his wife Paige; and grandsons, Connor Keyler McCann and Ryan Patrick McCann.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ Church, 105 Cottage Place, Ridgewood. All are invited to a repasse at noon at Seasons, 644 Pascack Road, Washington Township. He will be interred at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester in a private family service.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in his memory be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the A&A Nurses Registry, PO Box 1225, Ridgewood, NJ 07450 (Attn: Janet Kelly).
