The 23-year-old, who also graduated last year from the University of Maryland at College Park, died in Baltimore on Thanksgiving Day, according to legacy.com.

“I was shocked to hear about Michael’s recent tragic death,” Sarah Jane Lewis posted on the young man’s Facebook wall.

No other information about the death was unavailable.

Lewis, who wrote she grew up with Michael Anthony, and his younger brother, Jake, started a fundraising campaign for the family to cover funeral expenses.

A second campaign also is under way to establish a scholarship fund in Mancini’s name.

Mancini is survived by his mother and father, Ginger and Michael, and his brother, according to the obituary. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Virginia Curatola, nine cousins, and many aunts and uncles.

Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced.
