Connor G. Walsh, 23, Former Ridgewood YMCA Employee

NEW MILFORD, N.J. -- Connor G. Walsh, of New Milford, died unexpectedly on Jan. 5. He was 23.

He was born Dec. 20, 1993. A 2008 graduate of St. Joseph's School, Oradell and 2012 graduate of Don Bosco Prep, Ramsey, he was an Eagle Scout, EMT, certified 911 NECI and EMD Dispatcher. 

He had an Associate's degree in Homeland Security and wanted to pursue a career in law enforcement. He was an avid outdoorsman and he enjoyed football, wrestling, baseball and was a car enthusiast. He also devoted many hours of service to his local community. Most of all, he cherished his most faithful dog companion, Casey who predeceased him earlier last year. 

He will always be remembered for his fun-loving personality, beautiful smile, genuine ability to make others laugh and his extraordinary impact on others. 

He was a proud organ donor. "Our son is a super hero! We find comfort and solace knowing that he lives on through others," his parents said to the funeral home in the obituary.

He is survived by his parents, William and Alice Walsh (Gorczycki); many aunts and uncles; cousins, Megan, Michael, Matthew, Ryan, Kaely, Alexa and Cory.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Mary and William Walsh and Sophie and Edmund Gorczycki.

A wake will be held 3-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 S. Washington Ave., Bergenfield. A celebration of his life will be held at at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12 at St. Joseph's Church, Oradell.

In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund has been established in his memory: Connor G. Walsh Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o St. Joseph's School, 305 Elm St., Oradell.
