Teaneck Street Renamed To Honor Late Mayor Lizette Parker Wednesday

TEANECK, N.J. — The Teaneck street that the late Teaneck Mayor Lizette Parker lived on will be renamed in her honor on Aug. 31.

The Selvage Avenue celebration of Parker's life and legacy will begin at 5 p.m., with the unveiling scheduled for 7 p.m.

Parker, who died in April at 44 years old, was the first African-American woman to be mayor of a Bergen County municipality.

The township is collecting back-to-school items in recognition of Parker's love and support of youth. Donations are being accepted through Aug. 25 at 148 Church St., Teaneck.
