Advocates should avoid using words such as “aging” and “elder” when pushing initiatives because doing so will minimize the fact such improvements better the entire community, said Kathryn Lawler, aging and health resources manager for the city of Atlanta, at a conference on aging issues, northjersey.com said.

The Conference on Creating Age-Friendly Communities in Northern New Jersey at Montclair State University was attended by more than 150 social service organizations, business leaders, academics, architects, community planners and elected officials from 35 towns, northjersey.com said.
