RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- The Ridgewood Fourth of July Committee is need of volunteers for the parade and fireworks, on the Fourth -- and volunteers can get tickets, t-shirts or even community service hours.
Parade marshals will "be the eyes and ears of the committee," organizers note. You'll sit where you normally would -- but with a clipboard and a copy of the parade regulations -- and keep an eye on group spacing and whether groups are throwing items. You step in and correct issues, and call the committee if necessary.
These volunteers will receive an event t-shirt and a free ticket to the evening entertainment and fireworks.
As a parade judge, you'd also sit where you normally would -- and also get a clipboard. The categories you'd judge are parade groups and music groups.
Fireworks ticket-takers will man the four gates onto Veteran's Field, selling and taking tickets, and handing out programs. These volunteers will receive a t-shirt and boxed dinner.
Pre-show gate security volunteers will man the games from 4-6 p.m., keeping folks out until the gates open. These volunteers will also receive a shirt and a boxed dinner.
If you're interested in volunteering, call 201-602-1922 or email email@example.com. A volunteer information meeting will be held at the Ridgewood Fire House, at 201 East Glen Ave., on Thursday, June 30, at 7 p.m.
