RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — A composition notebook sits on the table in the Auditorium Gallery of the Ridgewood Library, inviting residents to record their recollections from Sept. 11, 2001.
The notebook is part of the community’s 9/11 commemoration, which includes a 10th Anniversary Flag of Honor, “portraits’ of the 12 residents who lost their lives that day, and copies of a speech made during the November 2001 memorial dedication service.
The display includes photos and brief stories that paint a portrait of the lives lost on what town officials referred to as "that incongruously beautiful morning.”
The portraits of the “Ridgewood 12” — Michael Carroll, Daniel McGinley, James Munhall, Charlie Murphy, Steven Paterson, Michael San Phillip, Bruce Simmons, Steven Strobert, Gina Sztejnberg, Jon Vandevander, and Christopher Wodenshek — will remain on display through the month of September.
