RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — A 13-year-old Ridgewood vocalist and one other student from her music school will be auditioning on Sat., Nov. 14, for “America’s Got Talent” at Queens College in New York.

Amanda Plasse — a longtime student at Midland Park’s From The Top Music Studio — will be performing Chrstina Perri's "Arms" at the audition.

The Benjamin Franklin Middle School student has been taking lessons at her mother's studio since she was 5 years old.

"She's spunky, that's for sure," said Lisa Plasse, who was contacted by an AGT producer looking for young contesters in September.

"She’s very passionate about music and she's already decided she wants to major in music and perform," Plasse said, "following in my footsteps."

The young vocalist put on private performances for her family when she was a toddler and later picked up the piano and violin.

Plasse and Hackensack's 19-year-old Katrina Tutschek submitted videos of themselves performing and in return received a front-of-the-line pass from AGT officials, Plasse said.

The two students will jump the line Saturday morning and audition right away.— with Plasse singing Chrstina Perri's "Arms," and Tutschek singing Pat Benatar's "Fire and Ice."

"She's getting nervous," Plasse said of her daughter, "but she's been working hard and she's also very excited about it."
