Lauren DiMaulo has participated in Cycle For Survival for the past five years on behalf of family members who are patients at MSKCC.
This year she decided to start her own team to see if she could have an even greater impact.
"We have a really tight knit group of friends on Ethelbert and we figured starting a team would be a good way to get more people involved and raise more money," she said.
On February 21, team Ethelbert will attend the Cycle For Survival event at Equinox Gym in Paramus and take turns riding the stationary bike for four hours.
The seven members on Team Ethelbert have set a fundraising goal of $5000. They have already raised more than $3200.
DiMaulo hopes she can grow team Ethelbert and raise even more money in years to come.
"The more people we get involved the better," she said. "Hopefully we can grow every year from riding one bike to three bikes to twenty bikes."
For anybody interested in trying Cycle For Survival, DiMaulo has a pitch.
"Being a part of a team is an awesome feeling," DiMaulo said. "It is fun and the support you provide really helps people."
