Ridgewood Helps Keep Kids Busy During Holiday Break

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — There are plenty of special events planned by the Ridgewood Recreation Department while school is closed during the holiday break from Dec. 24 through Jan. 4.

  • Magic show featuring Joe Fischer: 11:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 28, at the Anne Zusy Youth Center, Village Hall, 131 N. Maple Ave. Tickets are $5 for all attending (children younger than 2 free).
  • Arctic Animals Art Camp with Abrakadoodle : 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 28-29 at the Stable, 259 N. Maple Ave. Grades K-3. Cost is $90; all materials provided ($100 for non-residents). Students will use clay and paint while learning about snowy animals.
  • Children’s Craft Workshop With Mrs. C. : 1-3 p.m., Monday, Dec. 28 at the Stable, 259 N. Maple Ave. Grades 2-6. Cost is $30, all materials provided ($40 for non-residents). Students will use their creativity and imagination while learning simple techniques required to draw, paint and finish a project to take home.
  • Trivia Mania With Magic Cube : 1-2:15 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 29, at The Anne Zusy Youth Center, Village Hall, 131 N. Maple Ave. Grades 3-6. Tickets are $5 for all attending. This live, interactive trivia game show has a buzzer system, lighting and sound effects, and has contestant games, musical competitions, audience participation activities, prizes and two co-hosts.
  • Mythbusters with Education Explorers: 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29 at The Stable, 259 N. Maple Ave. Grades 1-5. Cost is $45, all materials included ($55 for non-residents). Children will participate in a variety of hands-on experiments that put common "myths" to the test. Using scientific methods and children's innate curiosity, they will have fun exploring many STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) principles.
