Many Bergen Nonprofits Benefit From Regional Bank's Program

RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Boiling Springs Savings Bank's award-winning Community Alliance Program continues to grow -- and, in the third quarter of 2016, 160 organizations shared donations over $117,000.

As part of another community initiative, the Orient Way branch hosted the Rutherford Police Department's "Coffee with a Cop" event on Oct. 7.

This quarter, eight more organizations were able to receive donations: Life Opportunities Unlimited; Meadowlands Area YMCA; Montville Township Police Explorers; Rutherford F.C. Inc.; North Arlington Volunteer Emergency Squad; Woman's Club of Parsippany-Troy Hills; Parsippany High School Band Boosters; and New York-New Jersey Trail Conference.

Since the program's beginning, 401 community organizations have signed up for the program and more than $2.5 million has been donated to them.

The CAP is an easy way to bring in donations. Nonprofits with an address in Bergen, Passaic, Morris, Essex or Hudson counties are eligible. After an organization joins and it's reached 20 supporters, it receives quarterly donations based on their average daily balances or new loans.

Supporters designate which accounts as they want to be counted for this, and there are no fees for the supporters or nonprofits. All the donation dollars come directly from the bank.

You can find a complete list of participating organizations -- from churches and food pantries to sports and first-responder groups -- here.
