RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — A Midland Park Indian music academy will hold its 12th annual recital at Ridgewood's George Washington School on Sunday, May 15.

MusicSunita trains students of all ages in its Mahwah, Ridgewood, Englewood, Closter, East Brunswick, Secaucus and New York City studios.

The academy was founded by Mumbai native Sunita Kapur in 2002 , just one year after immigrating to the United States.

“Music is an integral part of Indian culture,” Kapur said. “Folk music bound everyone together and goes as far as thousands of years back to our roots.

"It’s a very easy way to connect.”

The recital will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the G.W. School's auditorium, 155 Washington Place.
