RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- Ridgewood residents and village officials gathered in Van Neste Square on Wednesday to honor the men and women who served our country.

The 11 a.m. ceremony opened with a Call to Attention by Joseph Vrana, of the Color Guard. American Legion Post 53 Commander Bob Paoli made the opening remarks before Ridgewood Mayor Paul Aronsohn introduced the speakers.

The event's speakers included Admissions Field Force representative of the U.S.M.A at West Point David V. Nasta and retired Commander and Legionnaire Ed Houlihan, USN Service and Sacrifice.

Ridgewood High School student Ruslan Diaz, grade 9, recited a poem before the Ridgewood Harmony Celebrating Chorus sang "God Bless America."
