Ridgewood Hike, Bike Event Aids Bergen County Nonprofit

RIDGEWOOD, N.J.– Registration has opened for the May 1 Family Promise of Bergen County's Hike or Bike event in Ridgewood's Van Neste Square.

Proceeds from the event will aid the nonprofit organization, which that provides services and shelter to working homeless families, its website says.

Participants who secure sponsorships from friends, family and colleagues will meet and check in at Van Neste Square – directly across from Family Promise's office on Dayton Street — at noon.

From there, they will walk or ride a three-mile course or bike a 15-mile course starting at 3 p.m.

Children under five can participate in the new hike or trike beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Admission is $20 per person in advance and $25 on-site. Children under 5 are free with adult registration. All funds go towards Family Promise's programs for homeless, working families.

Teams can be formed or joined during online registration. Every member of the top fundraising team wins an individual and team prize. 

To be considered for prizes, cash, checks and online donations must be in on or by May 1.
