RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- A reception to celebrate Allan F. Avery's Retrospective Art Exhibition takes place Sunday at the Ridgewood Art Institute.
Avery was born in 1918 in the White Mountains Region of New Hampshire and raised by a mother who was a published poet. He spent most of his life sketching and painting landscapes of the natural world.
His paintings are capture the power and movement of nature, and have attracted the attention of art enthusiasts throughout the United States.
Allan taught the adult watercolor night class for the Ridgewood Art School at the Ridgewood Art Institute for over 40 terms, starting in 1954. He also taught the Ridgewood Adult School watercolor class. Prior to Ridgewood he taught the watercolor class at Glen Rock Adult School.
The reception is March 6 from 2- 4 p.m. and the exhibit runs through March 20.
The Ridgewood Art Institute is located at 12 East Glen Ave.
