These threats include someone using your credit card number without your permission, gaining access to your bank accounts and taking over your email. Knowing more about the issues can help you protect yourself, reduce the risk of identity theft and fraud, and be more secure, both online and off.

Joseph Grant and Christopher Stewart will lead the seminar. Grant joined Merrill Lynch's Montvale office as a financial adviser in 2015, after a decade's experience in the life sciences field. Stewart is a financial adviser at the Paramus office, after spending a decade as an attorney.

Issues that will be addressed include:

  • What identity theft is
  • How to protect your personal information
  • How to recognize the main types of fraud
  • How to protect your family from fraud
  • What to do if you're a victim of identity theft

Light refreshments will also be served. The session will begin at 7 p.m. The Fort Lee Public Library is at 320 Main St.
