RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- The College Club of Ridgewood is hosting the play "The Other Mozart" to accompany its Fall Luncheon, on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Bergen Community College.
"Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart had an equally talented older sister, Nannerl, who was also a musical prodigy and composer," organizers note. "The Mozart children performed together on the 18th-century concert stage as the 'Wunderkinder.' Once Nannerl was of marrying age, she was not allowed to continue with her career.
"'The Other Mozart' is a tale of one of history's great might-have-beens."
The play, also performed Off-Broadway in New York, alternately features Samantha Hoefer or Sylvia Milo, who created the play. Hoefer will star in this performance.
The event cost is $40 for non-members, and it includes a fully catered luncheon.
Though the official RSVP date has passed, College Club board of trustees member Jennifer Brito told Daily Voice that more attendees are welcome. Folks can call her at 201-445-0442 through Friday to reserve a seat, and they can pay at the door, by check or cash.
The meeting and performance will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the Ciccone Theatre, on the college campus, 400 Paramus Rd. Complimentary valet parking will be available and carpooling is encouraged.
"College Club is over 100 years old," Brito said. "We raise money to help undergraduate women and upperclassmen men and women go to college, through directs grants-in-aid and interest-free loans."
