Author and illustrator Justin LaRocca Hansen will lead two hands-on seminars on graphic novels at The Curious Reader.

The first session, open to children 7-10, starts at 10 a.m. The second session, open to children 11-14, begins at 1 p.m.

The event is presented by the Christopher Barron Live Foundation, created to honor a borough boy who died of leukemia in 2009.

“Chris and I were introduced to one another before we could even talk or walk,” said Christopher's childhood friend Jordan McMahon. “We created an amazing friendship that was driven by imagination. We loved to be superheroes and act as though my playground was the made-up society that we had to save.”

The cost is $25 plus a comic book donation.
