RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- Teacher and baseball coach Fox Beyer will share his poetry "for the common man" at the Ridgewood Public Library on at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

A longtime teacher at Whippany High School and currently a coach for the Somerset Patriots, based in Bridgewater, Beyer explores topics such as hunting, fishing, social media, self-esteem, nature and faith in his work. Beyer's book of poetry, titled "Letter Kindling: Igniting, Inspiring & Evoking the Fire Within," was published in January.

While drawing from his own experiences, Beyer emphasizes the commonalities shared by everyone. “It is my hope that you, the reader, can find a connection,” he says. “Maybe, in some ways, we wear the same shoes!”

All are welcome to the poetry reading, and light refreshments will be served.

The Ridgewood Public Library is at 125 N. Maple Ave.
