Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle (D-Englewood), Assemblywoman Marlene Caride (D-Ridgefield), Becton Dickinson (BD) volunteers and Lowe’s Heroes employee volunteers will join Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County to address the need for affordable housing in Bergen County.
The weeklong program challenges women to devote at least one day to help build in their local communities. The week also spotlights the homeownership challenges faced by women.
Ceremonies take place on Saturday, May 7 at 110 Bergen Ave., Bergenfield with opening remarks by officials starting at 9 a.m. Construction runs 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Speakers include Huttle; Caride; Lorien Barlow, Director and Producer of Hard Hatted Woman; Jacey Raimondo, Executive Director, Habitat Bergen; Angela King, Director of Volunteers, Habitat Bergen; Sharon Moolenaar, Commercial Sales Specialist, Lowe’s Paramus; and Linda Stewart, Senior Executive Assistant.
Lowes has donated nearly $2 million to this year’s National Women Build Week and each year provides the support of Lowe’s Heroes and conducts how-to clinics at stores to teach volunteers construction skills.
