An initiative of the Northern New Jersey Community Foundation, ArtsBergen will present the first event at the Bergen Performing Arts Center from 6 - 8 p. m., 30 N. Van Brunt St., Englewood.

The event is free and open to artists, arts administrators, municipal and community leaders, business owners and arts supporters living or working in Bergen County, who are interested in cultivating connections and collaborations.

The series' goals are to stimulate conversations with others in the arts community, develop new relationships, present opportunities to work together, highlight unique arts experiences and informative speakers on relevant topics and encourage creative placemaking throughout the county.

Speakers confirmed for the first event are Kadie Dempsey, director of arts in Community/Creative Placemaking with Morris Arts, and David Garsia, owner of The Art Factory in Paterson.

"The foundation is delighted to host ArtsBergen's Connect the Dots series," said its president Michael Shannon. "We hope to inspire area communities to learn more about how creative placemaking can make Bergen County more livable, engaging, sustainable and prosperous.”

The foundation is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization based in Englewood, focused primarily on education, public health, civic engagement and the arts.
