RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — Despite freezing temperatures, ice cream season officially began Saturday when the legendary Van Dyk’s in Ridgewood opens its doors.
On Monday, kids of all ages already were stopping at the homemade ice cream shop for a scoop.
“Right now we have everybody’s favorite flavors until the season kicks in a little bit more,” said Owner Corinna Kotrokois.
“We’ll have a few new flavors when summer kicks in and we have all of our freezers running.”
Already, people have come in looking for Van Dyk’s peppermint stick ice cream.
It’s still too early for that, Kotrokois said.
Van Dyk’s is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week, according to its Facebook page.
It’s located at 145 Ackerman Ave.
