RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — "due" on Ridgewood Avenue is moving a few storefronts down the block to the space recently vacated by "Natalie's" at 16-18 South Broad Street.
Chris Tarta's seasonal bistro explains that the new location can seat more than twice the amount of his current location at 18 Ridgewood Ave.
"Right now we are catering to more of a niche foodie population," Tarta, 36, told Daily Voice.
"With this move I am trying to make more of a local restaurant that everybody goes to."
However, Tarta said he is not sacrificing quality for quantity.
"It will still be high quality food, just for a larger audience."
The new "due" — pronounced doo-ey — will keep some old favorites on the menu for the foodies, but will also offer many new items and lower prices, Tarta said.
He describes the menu as "American with some Italian touches."
"due" will also begin offering takeout, catering services, party packages and event space.
Tarta envisions the new "due" as a place where parents can bring their children, couples can grab a quick bite before a movie, and families can host parties.
"We are broadening our menu and inviting more people in," said Tarta, who also owns Bella Campania in Hillsdale. "We want to be a local restaurant that has something for everybody at three and a half star quality."
Tarta is currently renovating his new location to add a more "modern" decor. He said he is going for a "casual elegant" atmosphere that will be not all that different from the current "due."
He plans to reopen "due" in its new home before Valentine's Day.
