As part of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the 22 New York-area Chick-fil-A restaurants in the Tri-State Area are holding a fundraiser for Alex's Lemonade Stand.

The restaurant is donating all proceeds from lemonade to the foundation dedicated to fighting childhood cancer on Friday, Sept. 15.

Participating Bergen County locations include Teterboro, Paramus Park Mall and Garden State Plaza locations.

Liz and Jay Scott founded Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation with a mission to find a cure for all children battling cancer after their daughter's battle.

Diagnosed with a rare form of cancer on her first birthday, Alex held her first lemonade stand at 4 years old with her older brother to help raise money for doctors treating children with cancer.

Together, they raised $2,000 for the hospital that provided her treatment, and Alex continued to hold lemonade stand fundraisers annually, attracting national media attention and raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for cancer research.

Alex passed away at 8 years old, a week after raising more than $1 million to help find a cure for the disease that ultimately took her life.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation has funded more than 35 research projects since 2006, to benefit New York-area medical and cancer research centers.

Countless families have benefited from the services made possible by the organization.
